This is a interesting application that uses a wireless "dongle" to plug into all modern cars diagnostic port, and it lets you read out all kinds on interesting information (in real time):

Strange Landrover/Range Rover dealer

We have a Landrover dealership sitting out midway between Godalming and Guildford, with a forecourt full of Range Rovers (and a smattering of other models as well) with destination stickers for some very weird locations

If you click on the image you should be able to read the note on this particular Range Rover which is going to Mongolia! Among the other destination was numerous places in Africa and Russia. And their lot seems to always been full of cars going to these places.....

And no used cars whatsoever, or for that matter any cars outside for sale, just 2 in the showroom.

Police in Trondheim and their zippy electric cars

The police in Trondheim are currently testing new electric cars that no US trooper would be caught in - but they do 0 - 60 (mph) in 3.9 seconds. Not bad. Apparently based on working with Lotus Motors (of Tesla fame) and Think in Norway.

New Artists have been added to Line Up for Saturday 28th June. Now appearing with headliner Eric Clapton, Sheryl Crow and John Mayer will be Jason Mraz, Robert Randolph and The Family Band and Scott McKeon.
New bands have also been added to the line-up for Sunday 29th June 2008. Appearing at their last EVER UK Show -The Police will be joined by, KT Tunstall, Starsailor, The Bangles, The Stranglers, Arno Carstens, Carbon/Silicone and The Flying Padovanis.

First Norwegian car in a looooong time

Driving your igloo

Police in Trondheim, Norway commented after stopping the car in the picture below that they driver was really driving something that looked more like a igloo than a car....

So it's not only in the UK that people drive cars with minimal visibility early in the morning.

Renault Clio - only for short people?

We went out to look at a car for Benjamin the other day - and one of the cars we were contemplating was a Renault Clio - a nice looking car with a good reputation, and a decent price.

Imagine our surprise when Benjamin and I tried to get into the back seat, and neither of us could sit upright?! The car was just way to small for us. The salesperson took us into the showroom to try one of the brand new models (we were looking at a used car) - and asked us to try this. And this was just as difficult to fit into?

Are the target audience for this car shorter than average?

I should add that Benjamin is around 6'1“, and I am around 6'3” - so nothing really out of the ordinary.

I did something out of character today

I got my driving license.

All my life I've managed without being able to drive, and I've had very little interest in driving a car. My jobs have generally involved air-travel if I needed to travel, or like the last 10 years a commute into Central London that no sane person would choose to do in a car.

Point to pointing today

We went out for a point to point event today with some friends - I've never even been to one of these events before.

It was very typical english - with lots of people (and their cars), most people seemed to have brought picnics as well, even though there was plenty to drink and eat on site.

The 3 next cars to us were all Volvo 4-wheel drives..
