I have noticed that Time Machine runs its backups even if I'm away from my local network - and as I habitually take my PowerBook with me and connect "back to base" through a VPN tunnel this happens a lot - and generally slows things down, not to mention the amount of data going down the VPN tunnel.

I know that I can turn off Time Machine when I'm away, but would it not be good to have a option in the Time Machine control panel to stop backups going through the VPN interface, only working when I'm at home?
