I'm lazy enough for one of these to make sense:

Eye-Fi announced two new wireless memory cards today, and they’ve dubbed their original card with a new name.

This is seriously interesting - a memory card with a built in computer and WiFi that allows you to automatically upload new images from your camera to your computer just by proximity! I want one!

This little device is a example of lateral thinking.

Basically you take it with you when you go out with your camera (after you have synchronised the clocks of both devices) take your photos, and then stick the memorycard from the camera into the little GPS device. It will not go through your photos, check when they were taken (this info is stored in the metatags of the jpg photo) and add new tags for the gps location this was taken from.

I really think I will need to get one of these - the price I found was GBP 77, not bad.

My wife just got a new camera - a Sony Alpha A100, and as a typical computer geek one f the first things I checked was the version of the firmware.

As it was version 1.00 I did a quick Google for the latest version of the software, and found version 1.04 on Sonys website. I downloaded the Mac version the new software to the camera memory card by using the USB cable and connecting the camera to the Mac. I then uploaded the necessary files (2 of them) to the root of the memory card.

But after turning the camera off and then on and pressing the play key - nothing happened.

That is until i deleted all images from the camera, turned it off and then on - pressed the play key and at long last I was presented with the upgrade menu! The firmware was now easily updated, and all was now ok.

It's Saturday morning, and I had to get up as the postman called at the door to deliver a package. So after reading through my RSS feeds (using the excellent NetNewsWire aggregator) I found a story about Entrecard, and signed up for it. So at the moment you will see a small box at the bottom of the right hand column with a Entrecard card. Let's see where it leads from here.
