I want to use my unlimited O2 iPhone data plan for my laptopNow that I have signed up for a iPhone O2 subscription I'd like to be able to hook into this from my laptop when I'm traveling. So I started looking into this. First I tried to use the "normal" bluetooth connection method from my (OsX Leopard) MacBook Pro. No luck, as far as the Mac is concerned the iPhone has absolutely no facilities at all (so I suspect that it only has connection profiles for headsets). Next stop was Google - and this is the most promising article I found: It's great that your iPhone has a data plan and a killer mobile browser, but when you're sitting at the airport waiting to catch a plane with your laptop right next to you, wouldn't it be nice to use your full-on desktop browser? Out of the box your iPhone won't allow you to tether your EDGE data connection to another computer wirelessly, but with a little ingenuity on your part you'll be browsing the net on your laptop through your iPhone's data service in no time. [From Feature: Use Your iPhone's Internet Connection On Your Laptop] The only problem now is that my brand new iPhone runs software version 1.1.2 - so I have to downgrade to 1.1.1 first (hopefully the same procedure I followed on my iPod Touch). This is a much bigger decision on a iPhone IMHO - so I will have to think about this, but I suspect that I will have to bite the bullet.
