I know - but I'm in the good situation that my work pays my bills, so it does not hurt so much..

O2 charges £3-£6 per MB of data downloaded when abroad

iPhone users in the UK are being warned to use the Data Roaming Off switch on their device when traveling abroad - or risk insanely great big bills.
