Wireless video and our WiFiOver the last week or so we have experienced quite severe problems with our wireless network access in the house (we have 4 wireless access points connected by 100 Mbit/s Ethernet), where connectivity has been extremely spotty - even seeing the SSID's of the various networks has been intermittent. When I switched the newest of the WiFi routers to use the 5 Ghz band everything seemed to work better - but only one of our laptops can handle this, so this was not a acceptable solution. But this morning I found the culprit. It turned out to be our wireless video distribution kit. This consists of 2 SCART plugs with built in transmitter and receiver, and of course it transmits in the same band as the WiFi. Why this has suddenly happened now, when the system has been in place for a year, I still do not know. But powering the video transmitter down sorted out the problem immediately. |
