Ecto 3.0b4 does not work for me

I upgraded to Ecto 3.0b4 a couple of days ago (I am doing some beta-testing of this excellent blogging client), and can't get it to launch.

That is - it actually starts up, the menu line is there, but all options are greyed out, and no window starts up.

Going back to a older version works.

Otherwise Ecto 3 is coming along very nicely and behaves like a model citizen with Drupal 5.3.
