TUAW has a review of the iPhone geocaching app from Geocaching.com. I have not tried this one myself so far, I use iGeoCacher, and it works reasonably well.

Armed with our iPhones (and iGeoCacher) we set out to find our first geocache :

we had selected what sounded like a extremely easy cache (click on the pic above for details), and after a couple of false starts we found it!

so Benjamin and I am no longer GeoCaching virgins!

Hm! Groundspeak (at www.geocaching.com) is announcing a geocaching application on their site - the feature set soudns a lot like iGeoCacher:

Groundspeak’s Geocaching Application will provide real-time, direct access to Geocaching.com’s database of worldwide geocaches. Application features include: access to geocache details, including description, hint and recent logs, trackable item lookups, and full navigation capability.

I just purchased Geojournal as well - the last technology piece I need to get started with geocaching.

It uses exactly the same waypoint files from geocaching.com as I use for iGeocacher (the iPhone application that I use for carrying Geocache information with me.

And what a enjoyable application it is.

After downloading files from geocaching.com to my webserver (as described for iGeocacher) both applications can get hold of the files, and this is what it looks like in Geojournal (after I have told it the location of where I am at the moment)
