As soon as you start letting users participate and interact with your site you have a problem with spam – and then you need to spend time moderating the content. This takes time you do not really have.

Mollom is supposed to help with this:

If you spend a lot of your time eliminating comment spam, profanity, flaming by troll users, robot-created content and other poor-quality contributions from your moderation queue, you won’t have enough time to complete that great new feature or engage in the meaningful dialogue that can make your web community a success.

The Mollom service helps evaluate content quality, stop spam and lets you concentrate on building and improving your site.

There is a Drupall related configuration problem with this blog at the moment – all category display has gone away.

I’m slowly but surely working my way through this to find out what I’ve done to cause this…

Every time a blog is updated on this site this will now be announced on Twitter and Pownce as well.

You may very well ask “why” – and the answer is the least intelligent answer I can give you: “Because I can”. Two new modules for Drupal gives me thia ability – and I have a idea I would like to test out as soon as I can get geolocation to work properly, as I am traveling a bit more in my new job.

We just came back from the Three Horseshoes pub after a excellent meal – we tried to get in last week, but all was booked very early. This time I managed for once to plan ahead and book early.

I managed to find out that their guest beer was called “Shere drop” – not “Sheer Drop” as i wrote after last time we visited the pub.

But once again both the “normal” and vegetarian dishes were really excellent.

Hm! – the open version is listed as “coming soon” on their website.

Likewise Open Spring ’08, released Tuesday, is the latest version of a product that allows Linux, Mac OS X, and other Unix systems to authenticate against Microsoft Active Directory servers.

Apologies – the site has been inaccessible for about 4 hours this afternoon while I was on a plane. The site itself was actually up and running, but the server running the reverse proxy cache in front of it was exhibiting problems. After a restart it is now all working again.
